The Human Metabolome Project presents
The Second Annual Metabolomics Symposium
Exploring the Human Metabolome
Join us for the day as we examine a range of current and emerging areas of interest in metabolomics. Experts will discuss current research in human metabolomics and the analytical and bioinformatics challenges of metabolite data acquisition and clinical analysis. This free symposium will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the Timms Centre at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
Speakers include:
David Wishart, University of Alberta, "The Human Metabolome Project"
Hans Vogel, University of Calgary, "Challenges on the road to implementing metabolomics as a clinical tool"
John Markley, University of Wisconsin-Madison, "Functional investigations of two membrane proteins by isotope-assisted metabolomics"
Ray Somorjai, NRC - Institute for Biodiagnostics, "Metabolomics and pattern recognition: problems and solutions?"
Craig Knox, University of Alberta, "Metabolomics automated data acquisition tools"
Brian Sykes, University of Alberta, "Human biofluid metabonomics: what is normal?"
Kent Johnson, University of Michigan, "Metanomic profiling of vasculitis"
Liang Li, University of Alberta, "Mass spectrometry for human metabolome analysis"
Thomas Marrie, Dean of Medicine, University of Alberta, "Can the etiology of pneumonia be determined by urinary metabolomic profile?"
Suzan Wopereis, European Nutrigenomics Organisation, "Development of the public wiki nutritional metabolomics biology database: NuGOwiki"
Oliver Fiehn, Metabolomics Genome Center, UC Davis, "BinBase and SetupX: enabling GC-TOF metabolite profiling databases"
A poster session will be held at The Timms Centre over the Lunch and Break Sessions to showcase research in metabolomics, metabolomics technologies and instrumentation, and advancements in bioinformatics and data analysis. Poster registration is now closed. Please consult our website for poster guidelines and an updated agenda. To download a poster of this event that can be shared with friends and colleagues, please click here.
There is no registration fee however registration is required by sending an e-mail to Ian Forsythe: iforsythe@genomealberta.ca - phone: (780) 492-5009. Registration has been extended until Tuesday, October 10, 2006. Please contact Ian Forsythe if you have any questions or comments.
